Modeling of Smart Batteries for the Realization of a Digital Twin Prototype

Abstract

Digital Twin (DT) is one of the major technology trends that has attracted many industries lately. The safety and reliability of lithium-ion batteries is a critical issue for both their design and operation to qualify their degradation due to aging. The digital twin offers new paradigms that can provide an effective solution to evaluate the degradation of the lithium-ion battery as it provides an efficient solution to physical and digital systems integration. It reflects the behavior of the equipment by building a virtual representation of the latter, providing supports for real time control, reliability, and stability. In this paper, the steps towards battery digitization are studied through a real case study, aiming at providing a generic solution for battery digital twins development and integration.
