In Yan Lianke’s novels, the environmental theme is first of all dealt with as a modality of denunciation or political satire, but « nature », understood as the « Sky-Earth » (tiāndì) complex, must secondly be replaced in a philosophical vision which, based both on Chinese tradition and on the « orientalized » figure of the Camusian Sisyphus, envisages a cyclical logic associating disorder and shadow with order and light.

La thématique environnementale est tout d’abord traitée, dans les romans de Yan Lianke, comme une modalité de la dénonciation ou de la satire politique, mais la « nature », entendue comme le complexe « ciel-terre » (tiāndì), doit être en second lieu replacée dans une vision philosophique qui, s’appuyant à la fois sur la tradition chinoise et sur la figure « orientalisée » du Sisyphe camusien, envisage une logique cyclique associant le désordre et l’ombre à l’ordre et la lumière.
