The acquisition of knowledge in a work situation is one of the conditions to access fisherman profession since the diploma, which is mandatory, must be certified by an imperative time of boarding into the function. The interlocking between professional socialisation and recruitment process is particularly visible when it comes to the learning of the profession through apprenticeship. Based on the accounts of seaman apprenticeships and former seamen who left the profession, this article reports on the process for obtaining a position within the crew. The article shows two stages of the professional socialisation: the learning of the temporality of the activity and the achievement of enabling tasks.

L’acquisition de savoirs en situation de travail est une des conditions d’accès au métier de marin-pêcheur car le diplôme, qui est obligatoire, doit être breveté par une durée impérative d’embarquement dans la fonction. L’imbrication entre socialisation professionnelle et processus de recrutement est particulièrement visible quand celui-ci relève de l’acquisition du métier par la voie de l’apprentissage. Basé sur les récits d’apprentis matelots et de matelots ayant abandonné le métier, l’article rend compte du processus d’obtention d’une place au sein de l’équipage. Il montre deux moments de la socialisation professionnelle : l’apprentissage de la temporalité de l’activité et la réalisation de tâches habilitantes.
